Caribou – Odessa

Don’t know much about this band but I know I’m looking forward to this album which is set to drop on 4/20, adding itself to a promising list of other very much anticipated releases in 2010 including Flying Lotus’s Cosmogramma.
Caribou – Odessa

Update:
I got such an overwhelming response from this post that I decided to do some homework and let some readers find out where Caribou is coming from. Formerly known by the moniker Manitoba, Daniel Victor Snaith has apparently been producing electronic music for over a decade now but wasn’t known as Caribou until 2004 after radio personality Richard “Handsome Dick” Manitoba threatened Snaith with a lawsuit for use of the surname “Handsome Dick” had been using since the 1970s. According to Snaith he chose the title Caribou while in the Canadian wilderness with friends while tripping on LSD. Swim is due out on Merge Records this April.

  1. These guys rock. If you like this, you might check out the tune stacks on my blog under the “On Heavy Rotation” section – http://www.thesmokingcupcake.com.

Melody Day is, in my opinion, Caribou’s finest track, but they’re chock full o’surprises.

  2. I am now a tune stack regular. Thanks for your comment.

  3. I agree, I’m excited for this album. Where are they from?

  4. Brilliant tune, according to XLR8R.com Caribou used to be Manitoba, which might help expand a back catalogue to chase up.
